Eunice Gayson

Eunice Gayson (born March 17, 1928 in Croydon, Surrey - † June 8, 2018 ) was a British actress .

Career

In her most famous role, she played as Sylvia Trench alongside Sean Connery, the friend of James Bonds in the first two James Bond films Dr. No and greetings from Moscow . She was originally intended for the role of Miss Moneypenny , but she was then played by Lois Maxwell . It was initially planned that she would appear regularly in Bond films. (A running gag should be that Bond is always called to his next assignment before there is any intimacy with her). The role of Sylvia Trench was then dropped. As with almost all actresses who appeared in the first two Bond films, her voice has been replaced by that of an unnamed actress ( Nikki Van der Zyl voiced her). In the original trailer by Dr. No , however, her own voice can be heard. According to a report by the BBC , she was the only "Bond" girl to appear in the same role in two films. Since she is in Dr. No before the leading actress Ursula Andress has her scenes with Bond, she is occasionally seen as the “first Bond girl”.

Overall, Gayson played between 1948 and 1973 in over 60 film and television productions. She was married twice. Gayson's daughter Kate (* 1971) appeared decades later in a casino scene in the 1995 Bond film Goldeneye .
