On the street corner (Original title: Street Corner ) is a British crime film by director Muriel Box from 1953 with Anne Crawford , Peggy Cummins , Rosamund John , Terence Morgan and Barbara Murray in the lead roles. The film was produced by London Independent Producers for the Rank Organization based on a story by Jan Read .

London : A homeless couple lingers on a park bench when the two watch a boy plunge into the waters of the Thames while playing . Despite the presence of two policewomen and the resulting negative consequences, the wife does not hesitate for a second and jumps after them to save the boy. The couple later explains to police officer Sgt. Pauline Ramsey that the wife deserted from the army.

In a second case, two policewomen are investigating a possible case of illegal child labor.

Another incident occurred later in the police station in Chelsea by a compulsive shoplifter and her boyfriend who turns out to be burglars.

Nell Taylor and Pearl Tipaldi were responsible for the mask and hairstyles. Charles Staffell took care of the special effects. Irma Birch provided the costumes. Production manager was Elsa Hatchett.
