The European Heritage Days in Switzerland each year as a national contribution to the Europe-wide European Heritage Days performed. Hundreds of events take place throughout Switzerland on the second weekend in September. The program includes guided tours, atelier and construction site visits, excursions and various other events on the topics of building culture , monument preservation , architecture , archeology and customs .

The European Heritage Days in Switzerland have been celebrated since 1994 and are coordinated by the National Information Center on Cultural Heritage NIKE at national level. This also publishes the program on the Internet and in the form of a brochure. The visits on the Monument Days are organized in advance by the cantonal and municipal departments for monument preservation and archeology as well as other organizations and people interested in cultural heritage. The European Heritage Days are a cultural commitment of the Council of Europe and are officially launched by it. The initiative is also supported by the European Union . The memorial days take place in 50 European countries .
