Europe, She Loves is a 2016 documentary by the Swiss director Jan Gassmann .

action

The film deals with the political drifting apart of the EU based on the love affairs of four couples on the fringes of Europe , which are shaped by economic and social crises: Siobhan and Terry in Dublin want to live without drugs ; in Tallinn , Veronika hopes that Harri gets on better with her son Artur; Penny wants to leave Thessaloniki and the elder Niko to work in Italy ; and Juan and Caro in Seville , newly in love, hardly think about the future. Everyday life brings similar problems to everyone, and relationships are an escape into privacy from the social and economic problems of their home countries. Excessive parties and drug use are natural for everyone, and they let the camera share in intimate moments through to sex. Jan Gassmann and cameraman Ramòn Giger manage to create an impressive closeness to the couples and to capture the essence of their living conditions episodically with just a few pictures.
