European Power Tool Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Power Tool Association (EPTA) is an interest group of European manufacturers of power tools . The aim of the association is to represent the interests of its members. In 2011 the members achieved an estimated turnover of 3.4 billion euros.

aims

According to the company's own statements, the aim is to monitor and maintain fair and open competition. In addition, EPTA is committed to an exchange between the members in technical, economic and ecological terms. The position on cooperation and mediation in the EU and other member states is to be strengthened.

Guidelines

Definition of machine weight

An EPTA guideline defines the machine weight. Power tools are weighed without cables but with all machine accessories according to the operating instructions. All individual parts required for use are taken into account. In the case of an angle grinder , for example, the clamping nut, support flange , protective hood and the additional handle are included.

Measurement method of the impact energy with rotary hammers

The measurement method prescribes six criteria:

  • Minimum size of the concrete block and its quality
  • Length of the test rod depending on the tool holder
  • Working temperature of the hammer drill
  • Limit values of the feed force
  • Placement of the measuring devices
  • Skill of the operator

Members

About 70 percent of sales with power tools in Europe are generated by the members.

history

The association was founded on January 31, 1984 in Milan. In 2006, Bo Risberg, a member of the Hilti Aktiengesellschaft Executive Committee, replaced Urs E. Ruepp, President of the European Power Tool Association. Richard E. Geitner, CEO of C. & E. Fein GmbH, Gerry McHugh, CEO of Hitachi Koki Europa Ltd, and Matthias Krauss, CEO of Mafell AG, were elected as vice-presidents. On January 1, 2011, a guideline on machine weight and single impact energy - for example for hammer drills - came into force. Accordingly, all members must measure, specify and comply with these key figures according to EPTA regulations.
