The European Ski Federation (ESF) is the European Ski Association and was founded on May 2, 2009 by four of Europe's leading ski associations in Munich . The European Ski Federation is based in Lausanne . The ESF sees itself as responsible for both alpine and Nordic skiing and snowboarding .
Members
The founding members are the ski associations of France , Italy , Austria and Switzerland . In the following years, other ski associations joined.
As of December 3, 2012, the following eleven associations belong to the ESF:

- Italy ( Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali )
- Latvia (Latvian Ski Association)
- Liechtenstein ( Liechtenstein Ski Association )
- Lithuania (National Skiing Association of Lithuania)
- Austria ( Austrian Ski Association )
- Russia (Russian Ski and Snowboard Association)
- Switzerland ( Swiss-Ski )
- Hungary (Hungarian Ski Federation)
- Belarus (Belarusian Alpine Skiing and Snowboard Federation)
Peter Schröcksnadel , President of the Austrian Ski Association, was elected the first ESF President . He was followed in 2012 by Klára Kaszó , President of the Hungarian Ski Association.
Goals and Activities
The aims of the association include promoting skiing and winter tourism in Europe and strengthening Europe's voice in international skiing. The association aims to work closely with the International Ski Federation (FIS). As the first competition organized by the ESF, the Indoor European Championship took place on November 7th, 2009 in the ski hall in Amnéville . On April 16 and 17, 2010, the first congress of the European Ski Association was held in Lausanne.
