Peter Schröcksnadel (born July 30, 1941 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian entrepreneur and has been President of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) since 1990, President of the European Ski Federation (ESF) and former Vice President of the ÖOC from 2009 to 2012 .

Life

In 1959, he completed his Matura at a HAK in Innsbruck and then began studying law . In 1964 he founded Sitour Austria in Innsbruck and manufactured panorama and slope marking boards as well as slope guidance systems (“signalisation touristique”). His second company, Feratel Media Technologies AG , founded in 1978 , developed Panoramabild , live broadcast weather panorama television, as a tourism marketing tool that is broadcast by various television stations in the early 1990s . At the same time, the company is developing products in the eTourism area for the European market.

In the Austrian Ski Association , Peter Schröcksnadel was an advisor for general skiing from 1978 to 1990 and vice-president from 1987 to 1990. Since then he has been the President of the Austrian Ski Federation. He was elected (unanimously) to this office on June 23, 1990 at the 55th national conference in Baden .
In 1992 he was awarded the title of professor by the Federal Ministry of Science .

As a result of the doping scandal during the 2006 Winter Olympics , Schröcksnadel resigned from his position as Vice President of the National Olympic Committee (ÖOC) the following year.

In the run-up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , Russia , Peter Schröcksnadel spoke in a newspaper interview on the political discussions about Russia's politics. He criticized a demanded boycott of the Games by politicians and was pleased that the Federal Chancellor and the Minister of Sports of Austria wanted to visit the Games. He did not want to judge the human rights violations in Russia and advised athletes against expressing themselves politically. He interpreted the release of political prisoners as a positive effect of the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Importance as an entrepreneur: Schröcksnadel Group

In addition to his work as ÖSV President, Peter Schröcksnadel is the managing director of four subsidiaries of the ÖSV, namely Austria Skiteam Handels und Beteiligungs  GmbH, Austria Ski Nordic Veranstaltungs  GmbH, Austria Ski WM und Großveranstaltungs  GmbH and Austria Ski Veranstaltungs  GmbH. The companies are among the most important organizers of major events and other winter tourism events in Austria.

He is also the managing director of Sitour Management  GmbH. The company, which is now active worldwide, has 30 employees in Austria and is represented in several European countries, the USA and Japan. Today the company is part of the Feratel group.

His son Markus Schröcksnadel , whom he is building up as his successor ( SM Holding  GmbH in Rum), is in turn managing director of the Vereinigte Bergbahnen  GmbH, which is also 100% owned by the family. The family group also includes SV  Beteiligungs GmbH and VB-HIWU Beteiligungs  GmbH in Innsbruck (investments in tourism infrastructure ).

The Sitour Management and United lifts hold several ski resorts and tourism businesses. Some of them: 80% in Großglockner Bergbahnen Touristik  GmbH, 50% in Großglockner Hotel und Infrastruktur  GmbH (GBT  Ski-Holding  GmbH in Heiligenblut), 100% in Patscherkofelbahnen  GmbH (1996-2014), 100% in Ötscherlift- Gesellschaft mbH & Co KG, 99% in Unterberghornbahnen Kössen  GmbH & Co KG, 53% in Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen  AG, 50% in Hochficht Bergbahnen  GmbH, 51% in Hochkar Bergbahnen  GmbH, and most recently 60% in Kasberg-Bahnen HWB- Betriebs  GmbH.

The Feratel Media Technologies  GmbH in Innsbruck is one of the leading international developer and provider of tourism information systems (Panorama television, hotel cards, information terminals, booking solutions u. A.). This company also has several international offices and operates webcams in over a dozen European countries and the USA. This also includes 30% in the Swiss company Intermaps , the leading provider of apps on the subject of tourism in the Alpine region.
