The Unterberghorn is 1773 m above sea level. A. high isolated mountain massif of the Kaiser Mountains in the Kitzbühel district in Tyrol . The north side is accessible by lifts for skiing and hiking tourism. A large part of the mountain range belongs to the Hefferthorn-Fellhorn-Sonnenberg nature reserve .
Location and landscape
The Horn, which has a double summit ( Hefferthorn secondary summit , 1735 m ), is the local mountain of Kössen (near the Bavarian border) and Kirchdorf in Tirol , between which it is built - west of the Großache valley . It is all the more effective as each of the two vacation spots is located in a distinct valley basin . On the east side of the Achental, the Fellhorn in the Chiemgau Alps reaches almost the same height at 1764 m .
The rock faces of the Bergstock belonging to the Northern Limestone Alps run largely in a north-south direction, which indicates regular pressure conditions in the alpine mountain formation . Deep trenches also run in both directions . The east flank and north ridge are Almenland.
The water flow to the north, which changes greatly due to the weather, contributes to temporary flooding in the Kössen area .
Development
On the eastern flank is an extensive alpine pasture , the Zellerinalm . An even more extensive alpine pasture occupies the relatively gently sloping ridge to the north, which is called the Unterberg . A cable car runs between this ridge and the Unterbergalm ( 1278 m ), while the alpine hut below is accessible via a good road and the entire northern slope is accessible via ski lifts .
The popular holiday and ski area (Unterberghornbahnen) is increasingly being used again for hiking , as well as by paragliders and hang-gliders . The mountain railways belong to the Schröcksnadel group .
