Europiella decolor is a type of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 2.2 to 3.1 millimeters long. The species of the genus Europiella are small, pale brown-gray colored and pale haired soft bugs. The base of the cuneus of the hemielytras is pale and the spurs of the splints ( tibiae ) arise from black points. They can be distinguished from the similar species of the genus Psallus by their black antennae . The species of Europiella artemisiae cannot be differentiated morphologically, but Europiella decolor is usually paler in color than the similar species.

Occurrence and habitat

The species occurs on the coasts of Europe from Norway to the Iberian Peninsula and also east across Southeast Europe, Central Asia and Siberia to China. It is also common in North America. In Germany it is only found on the North Sea coast, where it is not uncommon in some places. n Germany, salt marshes that are not cultivated too intensively are populated with abundant vegetation of herbaceous plants.

Way of life

The bugs live on sagebrush ( Artemisia maritima ). As with Europiella artemisiae , there are probably two generations per year . The adults can be seen from June to September.
