Eva Dimas
Eva María Dimas Fontanals (born March 18, 1973 in San Salvador ) is a former Salvadoran weightlifter and athlete .
She took part as a discus thrower at the World Athletics Championships in 1995 , but was eliminated in qualification. At the Pan American Games in 1999 , she took part in weightlifting in the class up to 69 kg and won the bronze medal. At the 2000 NACACI championships she was first. In the same year she took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney and was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In the competition she finished twelfth. In 2003 she won the silver medal at the Pan American Games . At the Pan American Championships in 2004 she won bronze in the class up to 75 kg. At the Olympic Games in Athens, she reached eleventh place in the same year.
In 2006 Dimas won super heavyweight silver at the Central America and Caribbean Games and finished eighth in the World Championships . At the Pan American Games in 2007 she won the bronze medal. In 2008 she won silver at the Pan American Championships. Then she took part in her third Olympic Games in Beijing and for the second time she was allowed to lead the Salvadoran team as the flag bearer. In competition, however, she failed to make a valid attempt in pushing. At the Pan American Championships in 2009 she was tested positive for nandrolone in the doping control and banned for two years.
