Eva Meier (* Munich ) is a German chanson singer and actress who is best known internationally for her interpretations of Brecht .

Life

Eva Meier studied at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich . She made her debut with a program of Brecht songs in the Piccolo Theater in Milan. Due to her husband's diplomatic career, she mainly performed abroad, where she quickly made a name for herself as a Brecht interpreter. She gave concerts in many cities in Europe and also in China, Japan, Indonesia, Australia and North America. She has performed at various international festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival , the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Adelaide Cabaret Festival .

In addition to Brechtlieder and Berlin chansons, Eva Meier also sings new settings of texts by well-known German writers, such as Kurt Tucholsky , Heinrich Heine , Sarah Kirsch and Hans Magnus Enzensberger . Here she worked with the musician Peer Raben , who composed and arranged the music for the texts.

Eva Meier is usually accompanied by the pianists Paul Cibis or Conor Linehan at her concerts .
