Eva Röder (painter)

Eva Röder , born Elfriede Sendler , (* July 30, 1925 in Elberfeld ; † March 4, 2014 in Wuppertal ) was a German painter , graphic artist , collagist and gallery owner .

Life

Sendler attended business school in the 1930s. From 1941 to 1945 she did a commercial apprenticeship in a weaving mill. In 1949 she married the painter Adolf Röder , restaurateur of the former artist meeting point and the Galerie Palette - Röderhaus in Sedanstrasse 68 on the Sedansberg in Wuppertal- Barmen , which the couple rebuilt and managed together after the destruction of the Second World War . For a number of years, the restaurant was a fixture on the national art scene.

Eva Röder received her artistic training through lessons from her husband and father-in-law Georg Röder . In 1953 she started painting; She showed the resulting works at over 60 exhibitions.

After the death of her husband in 1983 Eva Röder took over the sole management of the range and organized the exhibitions there. She continued to work on the publication of books, magazines and newspapers, as well as contributing to radio and television programs. She was a founding member of the Ring of Bergischer Künstler (group rbk), since 1970 a member of the Hofgeismar art group and since 1975 a member of GEDOK in Wuppertal, the association of communities of artists and art sponsors .

Eva Röder died in 2014 and was buried in the Norrenberg cemetery in Wuppertal .
