Church in Hinternah

The Evangelical Lutheran church Hinternah in Hinternah , a district of the town Schleusingen in the district of Hildburghausen ( Thuringia ), was built in 1614.

history

Hinternah was originally parish in Schleusingen. In the Middle Ages, there was a small chapel on the so-called “first ridge”. After the residents of Hinternah and Schleusingerneundorf received permission for their own church at the beginning of the 17th century, the church was built on a hill above Hinternah with considerable personal contributions. It was consecrated on December 28, 1614.

description

The late Gothic, listed choir tower church was built with stone blocks that are plastered and painted white. The building corners, ogival windows and portals on the south and west sides are edged with red stones. On the east side is the church tower with a slated pointed helmet, consisting of two pyramids placed on top of one another . It has a gold-plated button and a tower ornament and houses three bronze bells cast in 1989. The interior of the nave, which is covered with red bricks, is spanned by a ceiling with fields painted blue and separated from the choir with the chancel under the church tower by a triumphal arch . The pulpit stands next to the triumphal arch. The rest of the painted gallery has been on the west side since 1962. He wears built by Schleusinger organ builder Gustav Kühn in 1965 organ . The previous organ was on a gallery in the choir, which is spanned by a painted ribbed vault with a keystone in the form of a rosette. Below that, in front of a window in the east wall, behind the altar, there is a life-size representation of the crucified Christ in the middle and Mary and John on both sides. It is a work from an unknown Franconian carving school, probably made at the end of the 15th century, which used to be in the chapel on the one-term.
