Evangelical Church in Zell

The Evangelical Church in Zell im Wiesental was built in the neo-Romanesque style at the end of the 19th century.

history

In the 1830s a Protestant parish was formed in Zell im Wiesental. In addition to church services that took place in the Löwen inn, it was initially looked after by the community in Hausen im Wiesental . After setting up a pastoral office in Zell in 1886, the construction of its own church began a year later. It was inaugurated on December 16, 1888 after its completion. Between 1956 and 1960 the interior was redesigned.

description

Church building

The Evangelical Church in Zell is located west of the center in a residential area. The red sandstone structure consists of a rectangular nave with a flat hipped roof . On the west side rises a multi-segmented bell tower that protrudes slightly from the facade. The square floor plan tapers up to an octagonal one. In this section there are eight sound arcades that end with a rounded arch. The tower is closed off by an eight-sided roof pyramid with a tower ball and cross.

The chandelier inside was donated by the Evangelical Women's Association and was created in the art blacksmith's workshop Bär in Basel . The depiction of Adam and Eve on the tree of knowledge comes from a wood carving in Bern.

organ

The first organ from 1890 comes from Voit & Sons from Durlach and had two manuals , a pedal and 13 registers . It was replaced in 1958 by an instrument from Steinmeyer from Oettingen and placed on the gallery . It works with a pocket drawer , an electric game and stop mechanism , two manuals, a pedal and has 17 stops.
