The old Catholic parish was formed in Zell in 1874. At the beginning, it celebrated its services in a laboratory room of a former vinegar factory next to the trade school. description

Church building

The Christ Church is located west of the Zell town center in the middle of a residential area. A somewhat recessed, polygonal choir continues to the east of the rectangular hall with hipped roof . A bell tower with a square floor plan rises to the west. On the long sides of the nave there are elongated windows that close upwards in an arc. In the middle tower floor with beveled edges there are two-part acoustic arcades on all sides , above is the clock face of the tower clock. The roof forms a slightly cantilevered eight-sided pyramid , which is bent in the lower area. The top is crowned by a tower ball and cross.

Interior and equipment

Inside, the wooden ceiling is partially adapted to the sloping roof. The choir and nave are connected by a triumphal arch . The triumphal arch is flanked by two pictures. The left picture shows Mary with the baby Jesus, the right the ascending Christ. Below the image of the Virgin Mary a memorial plaque commemorates those who died in the First World War . There is a pulpit on the south wall of the nave .
