description
Exterior
The bell tower with pointed spire and clock from 1894 on the narrow north-east side connects to the elongated octagonal structure of the nave . The façades of the ship and tower are characterized by high segmented arched windows and the pilaster strips made of dark sandstone, which structure the façades in stark contrast to the white frame.
inner space
Like the Speicher church, which was built shortly before, the building is designed as a transverse church , and thus corresponds to the tendency towards this typically Protestant construction that prevailed in eastern Switzerland around 1800. Stylistically, the sermon hall is designed in classicist forms with late baroque elements. In the polygonally closed narrow sides of the room there are two galleries . The prospectus of the organ resulting from the Birnau comes is in Louis XV designed style. The subtle stucco on the ceiling and the stitch caps , as well as the fluted pilasters with overlying tooth-cut frieze - entablature correspond to the classicist styles of the time. The same applies to the pulpit , which, as in most reformed transverse churches, is clearly visible in the center of the longer inner wall of the church.
Stained glass window
The colored glass windows created in 1921 are by Heinrich Röttinger. They show scenes from the life of Christ .
