Evangelical Church Bodelschwingh
The Evangelical Church is a listed church building at Parkstrasse 9 in Bodelschwingh , a district of Dortmund in North Rhine-Westphalia .
History and architecture
The small two-bay hall church in Gothic shapes with a retracted choir with a 5/8 end was donated in 1312 by the knight Giselbert called Speke. The tower with an eight-sided helmet stands on the west side. The choir was probably built after 1350 and the west tower was probably rebuilt in 1506 above the old ground floor. The gothic new building of a larger nave was made in 1693. The quarry stone outer walls are structured by buttresses and ogival windows. The south portal is marked 1693. The tower shaft just reaches the ridge height of the nave. In the two yokes of the interior, deeply drawn-down ribbed vaults rest on consoles. The building was for a time the burial place for the von Bodelschwingh family and was extensively renovated in 2001/02.
