The Protestant Church Reelkirchen is a listed church building in Reelkirchen , a district of Blomberg in the Lippe district in North Rhine-Westphalia , and the parish church of the local Protestant community.

History and architecture

The church, which was previously consecrated to St. Liborius , was first mentioned in a document in 1231. The building is a two-bay hall with a slightly indented square choir from the first half of the 13th century. The west tower was built around 1200, it was crowned with a helmet in 1753 . An extension yoke was added on the south side in 1665.

The impression of the interior is determined by the massive, domed, ribbed vaults . The keystone in the choir is spherical, with four leaves wrapped around it.

The wooden pulpit is from 1667. It bears the inscription Ne canis mutus, nec mordax .

The churchyard is partially surrounded by a stone wall. There are some gravestones from the 17th to the early 19th century. The people of Reelkirchen are particularly proud of the 1000 year old church linden tree in the churchyard.
