Evangelical partner help
The Evangelische Partnerhilfe e. V. , founded on December 19, 2005, is a church aid organization in Hanover . The office is based in Berlin .
history
In the 1950s, the aid campaign "Church Brotherhood" was created, with which church employees of the member churches of the EKD voluntarily waived part of their salary in order to support the brothers and sisters of the GDR churches financially. Around 235 million DM could be given to pastors and other workers in the church of the GDR . On January 1, 1993, the Evangelical Partner Aid replaced the Church Brotherhood. Since April 2006, the Association of Evangelical Partner Aid has taken over management and administration. A working committee of the EKD is responsible for the allocation of the funds. The “Evangelische Partnerhilfe” association is recognized as charitable by the Hannover-Mitte tax office. Since 1996, the association and its predecessor have collected over 53 million euros in donations. (Status: 2010)
Goal of the association
The aim of the association is to provide financial support for church employees of the Protestant churches in Eastern Europe. The recipient churches include a. the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Estonia , the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latvia , the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Lithuania , the Union of Ev. Congr. Churches in Bulgaria or the Evangelical Church AB in Slovenia .
