Gospel Church in Hasenbergl

The Gospel Church is an Evangelical-Lutheran sacred building in the Hasenbergl district of Munich . It was inaugurated on December 2, 1962. Since 1969 the administration of the Vice Dean's Office Munich North has been located here . The parish office, the parish apartments and the Grüß-Gott-Haus with the youth rooms belong to the whole complex . In addition, the Gospel Church looks after the Simeons chapel in the nearby Augustinum residential monastery.

architecture

The church planned by the two architects Helmut von Werz and Johann-Christoph Ottow was built without a basement floor within 8 months. The 35 m long and 15 m wide nave offers space for 500 church visitors. From the outside, the church is a red brick building with a reinforced concrete skeleton . The choir has 12 meter high church windows.

The design of the interior revolves around the sacred number seven :

  • Altar with a seven-armed wrought-iron candlestick
  • Christ figure with 7 fire flames and 7 stars in the background
  • Tapestries with the 7 Works of Mercy
  • Illustration of the 7 days of creation on the gallery .
  • Tower Cross: 7 meters high and seven quintals difficult

Tower cross

On August 30, 1962, the tower cross was attached. The assembly of the massive cross was carried out by a helicopter of the Bundeswehr and was broadcast on television. In December 2006, the old cross was replaced by a lighter cross, illuminated from within and therefore visible from afar.
