Evanston is the city and county seat in Uinta County in the US state of Wyoming .

Geographical location
Evanston is off Interstate 80 at 41 ° 16 ' N , 110 ° 58' W at 2057 m above sea level. Evanston has an area of 26.7 km², of which 26.5 km² is land and 0.1 km² (= 0.39%) is water.
population
In the United States Census 2000 , the place had 11,507 inhabitants. The population density was 433.9 people per km². There were 4665 housing units at an average of 175.9 per km ². The population consisted of 92.29% of White , 0.16% Black or African American , 1.06% Native American , 0.40% Asian , 0.08% Pacific Islander , 4.15% said other races to belong and 1.87% named two or more races. 7.29% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The residents of the city distributed to 4058 households out of which 44.8% were living in children under 18 years of age. 56.3% of households are married, 11.7% had a female head of the household without a husband and 27.6% did not form families. 23.4% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 6.0% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.30 people.
The urban population was divided into 33.4% minors, 9.4% 18–24 year olds, 30.1% 25–44 year olds, 20.0% 45–64 year olds and 7.2% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 women there were 101.2 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 97.4 men.
The median household income was 42,019 US dollars and the median family income reached the amount of 47,220 US dollars. The median income for men was $ 35,843 compared to $ 21,710 for women. The per capita income for Wilkes-Barre was $ 16,725. 11.7% of the population and 9.1% of all families had an income below the poverty line , including 14.5% of minors and 5.4% of those aged 65 and over.
history
The city was built at a station on the first transcontinental railroad in North America, the Union Pacific Railroad . The only remaining roundhouse on the route is located here.
After the Rock Springs massacre on September 2, 1885, Chinese miners sought refuge here.
On November 12, 1951, a serious railway accident occurred near Evanston : Two eastbound long-distance trains, a City of Los Angeles and a City of San Francisco , collided in a snow storm. 26 people died and 200 were injured.
