Eve Francis

Eve Francis (born August 24, 1886 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode as Eva Louise François , † December 6, 1980 Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French actress of Belgian origin. She is considered the star of Impressionist French film of the 1920s.

Life

The stage actress Eve Francis made her first screen appearance in 1914 in Charles Maudru's La dame blonde . In 1915 she married the film critic , writer and director Louis Delluc . He also wrote the script for her film La Fête espagnole , which appeared in 1920 . By 1921 they made five more films together, including a. Fièvre and Le chemin d'Ernoa .

In El Dorado (1921) she worked for the first time with Marcel L'Herbier and in 1926 in Antoinette Sabrier with Germaine Dulac . In addition to her acting, she became increasingly interested in working behind the camera and showed enthusiasm for the processes, structures and structure of her films. After Delluc's death in 1924, she appeared in front of the camera less and less and began to assist L'Herbier in his films. She returned to the screen in 1936 for Jacques Devals Club de femmes .
