Eveline Steinberger-Kern (born January 27, 1972 in Styria as Eveline Steinberger ) is an Austrian business economist and entrepreneur .

Education and professional activities

Eveline Steinberger-Kern was born on January 27, 1972 in Styria, grew up in St. Johann am Tauern and between 1986 and 1991 attended a college for business professions (HLW). She then studied business administration at the University of Graz until 1996 . After an internship at McKinsey & Company , she completed her doctorate in business administration between 1996 and 1998 ( dissertation : “The diagnosis of learning potentials on an organizational level”).

After completing her studies, she worked for the state-owned Verbund group between 1998 and 2008 . She started as a trainee in 1998 and two years later became assistant to the holding's board member Johann Sereinig (sales, marketing, human resources). In 2005 she became managing director of Verbund-Austria Power Sales GmbH (direct sales company of the Verbund).

Between 2007 and 2009 she was the managing director of the state climate and energy fund and in 2010 she set up her own company, green minds eU , which participated in start-ups. Between 2012 and 2014 she worked for Siemens AG Austria and was responsible for the energy business in Central Eastern Europe.

In February 2014 she founded the consulting and venture capital company Blue Minds Company GmbH , based in Vienna . In February 2017 it was announced that she would like to set up the start-up center Wexelerate (weXelerate GmbH) with the Blue Minds Group and a group of other investors . Together with the other donors, many start-ups in the field of Internet of Things , FinTech and media should move into rooms in the Design Tower in Vienna from late summer 2017 . The start-up center was funded by the Vienna Business Agency with 277,026 euros.

At the end of June 2015, together with Nikolaus Pelinka and Markus Wagner , she founded the Innovation Club (Innovation Club Network GmbH), which offers industry-specific trips to Silicon Valley and organizes network meetings in Austria.

In April 2017 she founded the start-up company Energy Hero (Digital Hero GmbH; 94.44 percent Dr. Paul Swarovski Beteiligungs GmbH, 5.56 percent The Blue Minds Company GmbH) together with the investor Paul Swarovski , which was launched in January 2018 was presented to the public. The company offers a subscription service that is supposed to automatically switch electricity and / or gas providers for consumers. After doubts arose about the compatibility with her position on the supervisory board of the energy supplier Energie Burgenland , she resigned from her mandate. She herself saw no conflict of interest .

In October 2018 it was announced that she was leaving the Advisory Board of Wexelerate .

Management and supervisory functions

In May 2011 she was elected to the board of directors of the real estate group conwert Immobilien Invest SE and left it in April 2015. She is part of the supervisory board of UniCredit Bank Austria AG and was a member of the supervisory board of Energie Burgenland AG between January 1, 2015 and January 2018 .

Steinberger-Kern is also politically active. Together with Hans-Peter Haselsteiner , Brigitte Ederer and others, the platform Weil's um was geht was created in 2017 . The aim of the platform was to prevent FPÖ government participation. Several dialogue forums were planned.

Private life

She is married to the former Chancellor of Austria, Christian Kern , and has a daughter.
