The Vienna Business Agency (formerly the Vienna Business Development Fund WWFF ) is a company in Vienna . It supports companies and start-ups in Vienna and entrepreneurs who want to settle in Vienna or invest in business issues.

History, organization and tasks

The agency was founded in 1982 by the City of Vienna , the Central Savings Bank of the Municipality of Vienna (now Unicredit Bank Austria ), Erste Bank der Österreichische Sparkassen AG (then Erste oesterreichische Spar-Casse) and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce as a Vienna business development fund.

The agency's focus is on information and advice, property and location development as well as monetary economic development and financing.

The range of services extends from professional advice to the award of financial support, the provision and development of suitable properties to global location marketing for Vienna as a business location.

Grants

Operational investments by Viennese companies are supported by funds from the City of Vienna. The agency's funding offers include the areas of research, innovation, location and structure as well as creative industries . In 2019 around 500 projects were funded with over € 31.3 million, the total investment volume amounts to around € 202.3 million.

Real estate and urban development

The provision of operational infrastructure for companies and research institutions is one of the agency's priorities. This includes on the one hand the brokerage and allocation of real estate, but on the other hand also the development and construction of tailor-made technology and special properties for business and research. The real estate and space on offer is aimed at companies of all sizes and industries.

The business agency offers special properties for sectors and topics relevant to the location.

The business property is operated exclusively with renewable energies.

The company is also jointly responsible for the development of the new multifunctional Seestadt Aspern district in the 22nd district. It is the largest property owner of this 240 hectare area in Vienna.

Services

Services and network contacts are offered. The offer is aimed at founders and young companies as well as existing companies of all sizes and international investors. In 2018, for example, 221 companies from abroad were relocated to Vienna.

Former subsidiaries

Since the integration of the former subsidiaries ZIT and departure, the agency has offered all services, subsidies and services for Viennese companies under one roof, as business, technology and creative subsidies can hardly be distinguished from each other and the previous structure was too confusing.

Others

The company awards the Mingo Award to creative and innovative Viennese small and micro-businesses.

The Vienna Business Agency looks after the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device sectors (including digital health) through ARGE LISAvienna (Life Science Austria Vienna) together with Austria Wirtschaftsservice .
