Evelyn Dörr (born July 4, 1964 in Leipzig ) works as an author and director for radio and theater and as a theater and dance scholar .

Life

Evelyn Dörr has been working as a writer and director for radio and theater since 2001 .

She studied choreography / music and theater at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . After the fall of the Berlin Wall, she worked with Richard Schechner at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York and with the Brecht dramaturge Carl Weber , who became her most influential teacher. In 1999 she completed her doctorate in dance and theater at the Humboldt University in Berlin and wrote her dissertation on the life and work of the choreographer Rudolf von Laban . Since 2004 four books have been published in Germany and the USA . Her award-winning dissertation is regarded as "a highly significant contribution to Laban research - and thus to the dance, theater and cultural history of major European countries in the first third of the 20th century". One of her most important pieces is the piece for acoustic stage Der Mann im Mond. A radio ballet with Charlie Chaplin and Oscar Wilde's autobiography The Poetic Prophet .
