The Event Center Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the US city of San José in the state of California . The hall belongs to the San José State University and is located on the university campus . It is for the NCAA - college basketball games of the San Jose State Spartans (men and women) from the Mountain West Conference used.
history
The groundbreaking took place on October 1st, 1986. The arena was opened in May 1989 and the construction costs amounted to 26 million US dollars . The building offers over 25,000 sq ft (around 2,323 m 2 ) of space. 5,000 seats are available for sporting events. There are 6,000 seats for concerts. The event center also includes eight racquetball courts , two dance studios, a 10,000 sq ft (929 m 2 ) weight room, a mini gym, and an aerobics room for students .
In addition to the sporting events, stand-up comedy shows and numerous concerts by artists such as Sarah McLachlan , Eric Clapton , Beastie Boys , Drake , Conan O'Brien , Kelly Clarkson , Pearl Jam , Prince , Korn , George Lopez and Wiz Khalifa took place here.
