Ewald Schneidewind

Ewald Schneidewind (born October 18, 1939 in Danzig ) is a former German enduro athlete .

During his career, he won the coveted International Silver Vase with the Simson Quartet at the 1964 International Six Day Tour. In 1974 and 1975 he became European champion . He also won six national titles.

Athletic career

At his first Six Days participation in 1964 in his Thuringian homeland, Ewald Schneidewind won the International Silver Vase on a 75 cm³ machine with the Simson team. 13 years later he was on the vase team that took second place in the International Six-Day Tour .

In 1978, Schneidewind returned home from the international six-day race with a gold medal. He celebrated his greatest successes in the international individual competitions. At the first European Cup in 1967 he was continental runner-up. He finished the first European championship season on the 50 cm³ Simson in third place. From 1970 to 1973 he was runner-up four times in a row. In 1974 and 1975 Ewald Schneidewind achieved an unmatched increase - in both years he became European champion in the class up to 75 cm³. Then he was on the second step of the EM podium twice. As a Simson works driver, he was only able to achieve a GDR championship title from 1968 . Overall, he brought it to six national successes in the classes up to 50 and up to 75 cm³. With this overall balance, he became one of the most successful motorcycle off-road riders in Europe.
