Dieter Salevsky

Dieter Salevsky (born July 2, 1944 in Drebach ; † October 3, 2019 in Suhl ) was a German enduro athlete . In 1971 he became European champion in motorcycle off-road racing .

Athletic career

Werner Salevsky's younger brother began his sporting career in off-road motorcycle racing in 1962. That year he was second in the 175 cc class. In 1963 he competed in the GDR championship on a 250 cm³ MZ. Before the start of the following season he moved to the sports department of Suhl Simson -factory and launched on a machine with max. 49.6 cubic centimeters displacement . At the first GDR championship run in Dahlen , Dieter Salevsky came second behind Siegfried Rauhut .

In 1966 he was victorious in the smallest category at Rund um Zschopau . Since his third international six-day trip in the same year, he started constantly in the GDR silver vase team up to and including 1974. In 1970 he and his Simson colleagues took second place at the Six Days in El Escorial, Spain . A year later he had to replace Klaus Teuchert in the MZ quartet and switch from the 100 cm³ Simson to the 350 cm³ MZ. The first continental individual competition, the European Cup in 1967, started quite successfully for him with third places. In the following year he won the European Championship run in Zschopau and was runner-up in the 75 cm³ class. In 1970 he switched to the 100 cm³ class. In 1970 he won the European championship run “Around Zschopau”, two weeks later also that of the ČSSR . In June he became the new European champion.

He also won his second title after 1969 in the GDR championship, for which the factory drivers have been rated again since 1968. In 1974 he was GDR champion again and then ended his active career.
