Werner Salevsky (born February 23, 1940 in Drebach ; † March 7, 1991 at Brackley ) was a German motorcycle racer . Salevsky was married and has a son and a daughter.

The trained fitter made his first off-road drive in 1956 at the international event around Zschopau . In 1959 he became a works driver in the VEB motorcycle factory in Zschopau . In the same year he won the GDR championship in the 175 cm³ class and, as a member of the silver vase team, competed for the first time in the International Six Days, which at the time was regarded as the unofficial world championship. From 1960 he started in the trophy team. Together with Günter Baumann , Peter Uhlig , Hans Weber , Horst Lohr and Bernd Uhlmann , he won the Six Days for the GDR for the first time in 1963 in Spindlermühle, Czechoslovakia . In 1964 , 1965 , 1966 , 1967 and 1969 Salevsky was able to record further victories at the Six Days with the GDR team, and from 1965 he was team captain.

Salevsky has competed in many other races, even in the US desert . He won the 1961, 1962 and 1966 International Austrian Alpine Tour, 1966 the Italian 3-day trip Valli Bergamasche and won the Teterower Bergring Cup in 1965 and 1968 . In 1968 Salevsky became European Enduro Champion in the 250 cc class.

In 1970 Salevsky was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit .

In addition to off-road sports , Salevsky also competed in motocross races. For health reasons, he stopped active sports in 1972. He completed an engineering degree and continued to work at MZ.

During a business trip to Great Britain , Salevsky had a fatal accident on March 7, 1991 on the motorway near Brackley .

In the courtyard of Schloss Wildeck in Zschopau there is a memorial stone for Werner Salevsky and two other deceased members of the team at the time, Peter Uhlig (1940–1971) and Hans Weber (1941–1969).
