Bernd Uhlmann

Bernd Uhlmann (born December 29, 1939 in Zschopau ) is a former German enduro athlete .

The trained lathe operator began his active career in motorcycle off-road racing in 1957. A year later he became a works driver of the VEB motorcycle factory in Zschopau . In 1961 he was awarded the GDR title of Master of Sports due to his successes . Together with Günter Baumann , Peter Uhlig , Hans Weber , Horst Lohr and Werner Salevsky , he won the International Six Days for the GDR for the first time in 1963 in the Czechoslovakian town of Spindlermühle , which was then regarded as the unofficial world championship. Also in 1964 in Erfurt and in 1965 on the Isle of Man was Uhlmann member of the victorious East team.
