Expositurkirche Falterschein
The Roman Catholic branch church Falterschein is in the hamlet of Falterschein in the Austrian municipality of Zams in Tyrol . It is dedicated to the feast of the Purification of the Virgin and is a branch of the Zams parish in the Zams dean's office in the Innsbruck diocese . The building is a listed building ( list entry ).
Location description
The church stands in the hamlet of Falterschein high above the Inn Valley on a ledge . It is surrounded by a cemetery.
history
In 1669 a chapel was originally mentioned for the first time. This was probably expanded in 1708. The enlarged chapel was consecrated in 1713 .
architecture
- Exterior description
The church is a simple, west -facing hall building. On the north side of the nave, a church tower with a short pointed gable helmet and arched sound windows connects to the church building.
- Inside description
The nave is divided into three bays by pilasters. The chamfered triumphal arch with battle cornices separates the nave from the choir . This closes in the 5/8. Above the choir there is a lancet barrel vault that rests on round services. The vaulting was created in the 17th century style and consists of longitudinal and transverse straps, quadruple fields and leaf bars. The gallery is made of wood.
Furnishing
The high altar dates from the third quarter of the 19th century. The altarpiece shows “ Maria with Child”, painted by Georg Mader . On the back of the picture is a donor's inscription from 1856. The flanking wooden figures depict the Saints Peter and Paul . In the tabernacle a baroque crucifixion group from the middle of the 18th century can be seen. The side altar and pulpit date from the third quarter of the 19th century. The relief figures on the pulpit represent the four evangelists. The baroque Stations of the Cross are by Johann Paul Scheiber from 1737. The crucifix is from the beginning of the 18th century, the two canvas paintings "Pietà" and "Ecce homo" are from the 18th century .
organ
Franz Weber's organ dates from the second half of the 19th century.
Bells
One of the three bells was cast around 1500, the second in 1797 and the third by Joseph Grassmayr in 1793.
