Eysarcoris ventralis is a bug from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae). In English, the type of bug bears the name White-spotted Stink Bug ("white -spotted stink bug ").
features
The 5.5 to 6.5 millimeters long bugs are mottled brown. A lighter, broad stripe usually runs across the front part of the pronotum. The tylus (frontal wedge) is not enclosed by the Juga . There is a small bright spot in front of the bug's eyes. There is a light spot on each of the basal corners of the scutellum. The apical end of the fourth antennae and the fifth antennae are colored dark.
distribution and habitat
Eysarcoris ventralis occurs in the Palearctic and in tropical Africa. The species is also represented in the Canary Islands, the Azores and Hawaii. It is not common in Central Europe. The northern limit of distribution in Europe runs through France, Thuringia and Poland. In Asia, its distribution area extends to Central Asia, South Asia (India, Myanmar) and the Middle East (Iran) and the Far East (North and NW China, Korea, Japan).
Way of life
The bugs are polyphagous . They have a wide range of host and fodder plants. These include wild plants such as mullein ( Verbascum ), Spanish juniper ( Juniperus thurifera ), rush ( Juncus acutus ), prickly grass ( Cenchrus ) and many more. In addition, crops such as wheat , rice , cotton , corn , sorghum , peanut and alfalfa are among their forage crops. The bugs, which are considered pests, are fought with pesticides in rice fields. The species overwinters as an imago.
