Felix Mayol
Félix Mayol (born November 18, 1872 in Toulon ; † October 26, 1941 there ) was a French chansonnier .
In 1895, after starting out in Toulon and Marseille, Félix Mayol appeared for the first time in the café concerts in Paris, where he quickly enjoyed great success. He became famous primarily through Viens, Poupoule! (1902; an adaptation of the German Komm, Karlineken, komm ), as well as by Cousin (1908). Félix Mayol always wore a lily of the valley as a "trademark" in her buttonhole.
In 1909 he acquired the famous café-concert hall Grand Concert Parisien at 10 rue de l'Echiquier ( 10th arrondissement ) , renamed it Le Concert Mayol (it kept this name until it was closed in 1976) and left there u. a. erotic revues occur.
The Stade Mayol of the rugby club RC Toulon , which he sponsors, is named after him. The club also has lilies of the valley in its coat of arms.
