history

The FKBF was founded in 2000 by Criticón publisher Caspar von Schrenck-Notzing in Munich. The foundation, which has been run by its founder for many years, is dedicated to various projects in different areas of humanities research, publications and educational work. Since 2007, the Foundation for Conservative Education and Research, together with the weekly newspaper Junge Freiheit, has awarded the Gerhard Löwenthal Prize, which was first awarded in 2004 . The Chairman of the Board of Trustees has been Dieter Stein , founder and editor-in-chief of Junge Freiheit , since 2007 . At his side on the Board of Trustees was Caspar von Schrenck-Notzing's wife, Regina von Schrenck-Notzing (1936–2012; Association of Free Citizens , Frankfurt Round Table ) until her death on January 6, 2012 . Their place was taken by their son Alexander von Schrenck-Notzing (* 1965; founding member of Die Republikaner , Republican University Association ). In 2012, the sponsorship group comprised around 2000 people. After four years of planning and preparation, the Library of Conservatism was inaugurated in Berlin in 2011 and opened on November 23, 2012. Until then, the website of the Foundation for Conservative Education and Research focused on the Gerhard Löwenthal Prize , which has now switched to the Library of Conservatism . In mid-2015, the website of the Foundation for Conservative Education and Research was completely discontinued and a redirect to the new website of the Library of Conservatism was switched. Renate Renken, former assistant to the management of Junge Freiheit , headed the board of the Conservative Education and Research Foundation. Bastian Behrens, who has been looking after the sponsors of Junge Freiheit for a long time, was responsible for the press, public relations and support for the sponsors .
