Fetus party

A fetus Party (Engl. Fetus Party ) is an organized gathering of pregnant women , some of the fathers to visit from fetuses by ultrasound technology .

A fetus party can take place in the rooms of gynecology practices or privately, if those involved have the appropriate technology to look at the fetuses of the pregnant women present: 3D or 4D ultrasound is usually used ; Companies like Babyscan offer packages for interested parties from 250 €. The magazine Eltern reported on events of this kind in 2012.

history

The phenomenon comes from the USA : the parties complement the " baby shower parties " and " baby peeing ", which have been known for years , at which the birth of a child is extensively celebrated. The British footballer Wayne Rooney held such a festival back in 2009. Babyfacing is currently organizing such parties in Aiching (Bavaria) .

criticism

Critics like the head of the London Midwives College complain that the examinations intended for medical diagnostic purposes are misused for entertainment. Eberhard Merz, former president of the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine , also rejects this development. The President of the Professional Association of Gynecologists does not consider ultrasound to be harmful, but points out that several years of medical experience are required both for good images and for interpretation.

Others

Pierre Pelot wrote the novel called Foetus-Party in 1977 , but this did not serve to justify the new fashion in the pregnancy scene.
