The pentathlon world championship in 1939 , also known as the Pentathlon world championship, was the sixth tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from January 30th to February 4th 1939 in Aachen . It was the second pentathlon world championship in Germany.

history

Walter Lütgehetmann came to Aachen directly from the German pentathlon championship. Like a week ago in Magdeburg , it couldn't be beat here. With the greatest distance to second in the history of the pentathlon, the Frankfurt deservedly secured the title. By changing the coefficient, it was difficult to compare the VGD with the previous championships. In Lütgehetmann's last match, the Frenchman Constant Côte still had the chance to win the title. But it had to win 8: 2 game points against Lütgehetmann. In the free game, the French also won 200: 7 in one recording. But then Lütgehetmann started a winning streak and won the next three disciplines. In three cushion there was a 19:20 defeat. After August Tiedtke, this was the second time that a German entered the list of winners of the Pentathlon World Cup.

mode

The whole tournament was played in round robin mode.

  1. PP = game points
  2. MP = match points
  3. VGD = relative general average
  4. BEVD = Best Individual Relative Average

At the end of 1938, at the request of the French association, UIFAB changed the multiplier (coefficient for determining the VGD) slightly. When calculating the VGD, the points scored were calculated in the following way:

Free game : distance 200 points (points scored times 1 )

Cadre 45/2 : distance 150 points (points scored times 2 )

Binding : Distance 50 points (points scored times 9 )

Cadre 71/2 : Distance 100 (points scored times 3 )

3 cushion : distance 20 points (points scored times 40 )

All recordings were rated 1 times.

The pentathlon was also played in this sequence.

In the final table, the game points scored were scored before the match points and the VGD.
