The Modern Pentathlon World Cup in 1954 , also called Pentathlon World Cup was the seventh tournament in the discipline of Karambolagebillards and found of 3 to 7 November 1954 Buenos Aires instead. It was the first pentathlon world championship in Argentina.
history
Another tournament took place 15 years after the last pentathlon world championship. Eight players met in Buenos Aires for a record tournament. The Argentine Pedro Leopoldo Carrera won the tournament unbeaten and won four of the five individual disciplines. With his title win he became world champion for the fifth time and replaced the Egyptian Edmond Soussa as the record world champion. His performances at this world championship were outstanding in almost all disciplines. With Enrique Navarra , who finished second, the Argentines even celebrated a double success. The Belgian René Vingerhoedt , who traveled to Argentina with high hopes , was disappointing only in third place. For Siegfried Spielmann from Düsseldorf , who represented the German pentathlon champion Walter Lütgehetmann in Buenos Aires, it was enough for fourth place. Lütgehetmann, who was in very good shape, unfortunately had to cancel his participation in the World Cup for professional reasons.
mode
The whole tournament was played in round robin mode.
- PP = game points
- MP = match points
- VGD = relative general average
- BEVD = Best Individual Relative Average
At the end of 1938, at the request of the French association, UIFAB changed the multiplier (coefficient for determining the VGD) slightly. From 1954, the game distances were increased. When calculating the VGD, the points scored were calculated in the following way:
Free game : distance 500 points (points scored times 1 )
Cadre 47/2 : Distance 400 points (points scored times 2 )
Binding : Distance 150 points (points scored times 9 )
Cadre 71/2 : Distance 300 (points scored times 3 )
3 cushion : distance 50 points (points scored times 40 )
All recordings were rated 1 times.
The pentathlon was played over two days per match.
In the final table, the game points scored were scored before the match points and the VGD.
