Vincent Jean Albert (born January 1, 1904 , † October 31, 1976 ) was a French carom player , world and European champion in cadre and other disciplines.

Career

Albert was one of the all-round talents in carom. While other players committed themselves to one or a maximum of two disciplines, he not only played free game and cadre, but was also world champion in art thrusts from 1933–1935 and binding . In three-cushion he won a bronze medal at the World Cup in Barcelona in 1934 . He won his first medal (bronze) at world championships in 1933 in the free game after winning the gold medal in Cadre 45/1 at the European championship the year before. 15 years later, in 1947, he won his last international tournament in this discipline in his native Montpellier with a silver medal.

Among his strongest competitors in the battle for gold were the Egyptian Edmond Soussa and the Belgian Théo Moons .

Others

As was customary at the time, players often still held positions with associations. At the beginning of the 1930s, Albert was treasurer of the international amateur association “Union Internationale des Fédération d'Amateurs de Billard” (UIFAB).
