Tournament course

With Frédéric Caudron the best player of the tournament won. In the final against the Dutch ex-world champion Jean Paul de Bruijn , he won with 150: 73 in 14 shots. At that time, Caudron was the reigning world champion in four different pile-up disciplines. For the German defending champion Wolfgang Zenkner the tournament was very unfortunate. In the end he only finished eighth. The Frenchman Johann Petit ensured the best tournament performance: In the second round against the multiple three- cushion world champion Torbjörn Blomdahl , who took part in a single-cushion world championship for the first time, he won 150-17 in just 2 shots. For the second German participant Dieter Steinberger and the Austrian champion Arnim Kahofer the end came after the preliminary round.

mode

The tournament was played with 16 participants. It is played in 4 groups of 4 players each against each other. The first two of the group came to the intermediate round. Then two groups of 4 players each were formed. Everyone was playing against everyone again. The two group winners were in the semi-finals. The winners of the semifinals played the final. The whole tournament was played up to 150 points.
