The 1977 binding world championship was the eighth tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 28 to May 1, 1977 in Rotterdam , in the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland. It was the first binding world championship in the Netherlands.
history
For the first time, Dieter Müller, a German, had the chance to win a medal at a world championship. Before the last round, the undefeated and already established world champion Raymond Ceulemans had to play against Christ van der Smissen and Müller against Emile Wafflard . With a win of his own and an expected win by Ceulemans, he would be vice world champion. But it turned out differently. Van der Smissen won surprisingly clearly with 200: 158 in 14 shots against Ceulemans and Müller just lost against Wafflard with 191: 200 in 18 shots. As a small consolation, he was able to improve the German record in the general average (GD) to 8.54 .
mode
The game was played in a final round "everyone against everyone" up to 200 points.
