The best overall average (GD) at the last two world championships, Jacques Davin , was deservedly the new cover world champion in Nice . The Austrian Ernst Reicher completed his collection of medals with the silver medal. Jean Albert , who started as defending champion, came third. Joaquín Domingo from Spain improved the series world record to 52 .
