Peter Thuy (born March 9, 1961 in Bayreuth ) is a German economist and rector of the IUBH International University .

Life

Thuy studied economics from 1982 to 1988 (Diplom-Kaufmann) at the University of Regensburg and the University of Bayreuth . He then worked in tax consulting and auditing. In 1993 he was awarded the dissertation Structural Change, Qualification and Employment. An economic analysis with special consideration of the service sector at the Chair of Economic Policy at the University of Bayreuth for Dr. rer. pole. PhD. At the same time, he worked as a trainer in the field of continuing education and co-founded a training provider that he sold in 1994. In 1998 he completed his habilitation in economics and worked as a private lecturer in Bayreuth.

In 2000 he became professor for service economics and economics and founding rector at the International University Bad Honnef-Bonn (iubh). He is the rector of the Bad Honnef campus of the iubh and, since 2005, the rector of the IUBH International University , which trains 27,000 students at 17 locations.

Since 2007 he has been in charge of development for all academic programs at Career Partner GmbH in Munich and was their co-managing director from 2010 to 2019. From 2008 to 2019 he also took over the management of the Steigenberger Academy in Bad Reichenhall.

He is a board member of the Association of Private Universities and an expert on the accreditation of study programs and higher education institutions.

His research focuses on the economics of the service sector and application-oriented economic policy, especially structural, labor market and social policy.

Thuy has been involved with the SPD in local politics in the market town of Sparneck in the Upper Franconian district of Hof since 1998 and has been chairman of the SPD parliamentary group since 2000. He was second mayor from 2002 to 2008 and has been second mayor of the market town of Sparneck again since 2020.
