The 1976 binding world championship was the seventh tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from 8 to 11 April 1976 in Leuven , in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. It was the third binding world championship in Belgium.

history

Raymond Ceulemans dominated this world championship with his 20th world title. The reigning European champion was able to confirm his second place in 1974 with Christ van der Smissen in Löwen. Only the third place remained for the defending champion Ludo Dielis . Among other things, Dielis lost to the German champion Dieter Müller , who set a new German record in the general average (GD) with 8.39 . The very strong Austrian Johann Scherz had to cancel his participation at short notice due to a bereavement in the family and was replaced by the cadre specialist Hans Vultink from the Netherlands.

mode

The game was played in a final round "everyone against everyone" up to 200 points.
