The 1978 binding world championship was the ninth tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 20 to 24, 1978 in Bruges , in the Belgian province of West Flanders. It was the fourth binding world championship in Belgium.

history

The Belgian Raymond Ceulemans achieved the third cover success in a row . Once again he was unbeaten world champion. A Frenchman provided the highlight of this championship. Francis Connesson improved two world records, both held by Belgians. In the best individual average (BED) he improved the record of Ceulemans and Ludo Dielis from 28.57 to 66.66 . He improved the world record held by Dielis in the highest series (HS) from 168 to 199 . He achieved both records in the game against Johann Scherz who was third and won the sixth medal for Austria at a single-binding world championship.
