The 1968 binding world championship was the fifth tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 8th to 12th, 1968 in Tournai , in the Belgian province of Hainaut. It was the first binding World Cup in Belgium.

history

On the initiative of the Belgian Billiards Association, a single-binding world championship took place again after 31 years. The winner was also the Belgian Raymond Ceulemans, who was almost unbeatable in the gang disciplines at the time . What has happened in the development of the cover game in thirty years is shown by Ceulemans' new world records. The Austrian Johann Scherz held the world record in the top series for a few minutes. It was in the game against Ceulemans. Scherz scored 91 points, but was soon replaced by Ceulemans with 97 points as the world record holder. Second place went to French all-rounder Jean Marty .

mode

The game was played in a final round "everyone against everyone" up to 200 points.
