The Modern Pentathlon World Cup in 1972 , also called Pentathlon World Cup was the tenth tournament in this discipline of Karambolagebillards and found in March 31 until April 8, 1972 Ghent instead. It was the third pentathlon world championship in Belgium.
history
Once again the Belgians dominated the pentathlon world championship. After 1965, Raymond Ceulemans became world champion for the second time in front of his compatriot Ludo Dielis . Also this time he broke various world records. In addition to the VGD of 438.76 achieved using the new calculation system , he also improved the GD world records in Cadre 47/2 to 118.75 , in the cover to 17.91 and in the three- volume to 1.468 . Ludo Dielis set a new series world record with 168 points in the cover. The third-placed Hans Vultink equalized the five-year-old world record in the BED of 300 points in one shot ( 300.00 ) in Cadre 71/2 . The best performance in a world championship tournament was achieved in the cover. The whole tournament was very well attended on all days and was broadcast extensively on television.
mode
The whole tournament was played in round robin mode.
- PP = game points
- MP = match points
- VGD = relative general average
- BEVD = Best Individual Relative Average
From 1965 the "Portuguese table" was used to calculate the VGD. The various disciplines are calculated using a formula. The revised Portuguese table from 1972 was used. The world championships in pentathlon from 1965 were also known under the name "Neo Pentathlon". Extended series were also rated in Ghent.
Free game : distance 500 points
Cadre 47/2 : distance 400 points
Binding : distance 200 points
Cadre 71/2 : distance 300 points
3 cushion : distance 60 points
The pentathlon was also played in this sequence. Each match was played over two days.
In the final table, the game points scored were scored before the match points and the VGD.
