StrategyDialog21 (SD 21) is a think tank that works across party lines for an open, innovative and liberal Switzerland and promotes dialogue between society and business. Events, studies and publications provide impetus for the future of Switzerland and for a liberal economic order.

History & goals

In 2004, the entrepreneur Jobst Wagner sketched out vague ideas for a new think tank . In 2012 he published a concept for a strategy council21 that was to shape the Switzerland of tomorrow, and in the following year he founded the strategy dialog21 think tank. Wagner gives two motivations for his commitment. First, he sees Switzerland's freedom and prosperity at risk. This is to be countered by de-regulation and with clever ideas for the future. Second, he said, the vote in favor of the SVP initiative against mass immigration deeply affected him . Now we have to fill the gap between the population, politics and the economy . The think tank is supported by an advisory board that includes entrepreneurs such as Georges Bindschedler , Hannes Gassert and Carolina Müller-Möhl , academics such as Professors Tina Freyburg and Christian Leumann , Rector of the University of Bern , as well as journalists Markus Spillmann and NZZ Feuilleton boss René Scheu .

activities

Activities include promoting independent studies and publications, debates, networking and events, supporting new ideas through awards, and communicating with the media and the public.

Publications

StrategyDialog21 publishes studies on the subject of regulation , publishes publications and supports books such as smartphone democracy by the network specialist Adrienne Fichter .

Idea competition wish lock

With Wunsch-Schloss ,strategyDialog21 and the Swiss Venture Club launched an ideas competition in which anyone can formulate ideas and project proposals for the public. Every year an expert jury selects ten proposals for the finals at Thun Castle . There, the audience will choose the winner from the presentations. The winner explains his project to the secretaries-general of the seven largest parties. Wunsch-Schloss is supported by large companies and institutions such as Migros Culture Percentage , Swisscom or SwissLife and has a political advisory board of national and state councils , from Regula Rytz ( GPS ) to Kathrin Bertschy ( GLP ), Christa Markwalder ( FDP ) up to Lars Guggisberg ( SVP ). The first ideas have now been implemented, such as supporting young people interested in IT based on the model of promoting sport, or the proposal by student Robin Röösli to use stays abroad as part of an apprenticeship to promote cultural and linguistic knowledge.

De-regulation price “5 to 12”

StrategyDialog21 has been awarding an annual prize for smart deregulation since 2018, aiming for fewer or better regulations for companies. The first prize went to the FDP politician Andri Silberschmidt , for the suggestion to facilitate the temporary use of rooms in Zurich. The following year, the student Christian Siegenthaler won with the idea of loosening the rules for expiry dates for food. The responsibility of the consumer thus helps to avoid food waste . The patronage of the award includes SVP Economics Minister Guy Parmelin , civil politicians , entrepreneurs and the heads of large business associations.
