Phara Anacharsis (born December 17, 1983 in Fort-de-France , Martinique ) is a French athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run . She achieved her greatest international success as a member of the French 4 x 400 meter relay .
Athletic career
Phara Anacharsis started her career in 2000 and was able to win her first medals over 400 meters and with the French 4 x 400 meters relay at the Mediterranean Games in Almería , Spain . In the same year she also won medals at the Francophonie Games . In 2006 she was a member of the French relay for the European Championships in Gothenburg , which finished sixth in the final. Both at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and at the Olympic Games in Beijing , Anacharsis was eliminated with the relay in the preliminary round. In 2009 she won the 400 meter hurdles at the Mediterranean Games.
Anacharsis achieved her most important international success to date at the European Championships in 2012 , when she won the relay silver medal with Marie Gayot , Lénora Guion Firmin and Floria Gueï . At the Olympic Games in London , the French relay team was sixth in the line-up Anacharsis, Hurtis, Gayot and Gueï.
In 2013, Anacharsis remained without an international medal. Both at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and at the World Championships in Moscow , she took fourth place in the relay competitions. Over 400 meters hurdles she was eliminated in the preliminary round. She finally won her first title at a major international event at the European Championships in Zurich . As a substitute runner, she was part of the victorious French long sprint relay.
At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , she won the silver medal with the relay and made it through the hurdles to the semi-finals. She secured her starting place in the relay at her third Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and also qualified over 400 meter hurdles. In both competitions, however, she was eliminated in the preliminary round.
