The free game world championship in 1931 was the fourth UIFAB world championship in the free game. The tournament took place from July 11th to 15th in Vichy , France.
Although Edmond Soussa could not win his fourth Free Game World Championship in a row, he set new standards at this tournament. Despite two losses to Juan Butrón and Théo Moons , he was the star of the tournament. He improved all world records and was the first player to finish a game in one shot. Other players also stayed above the old world records. The winner Théo Moons and the Portuguese Alfredo Ferraz showed class performances and were better than the best performances from 1930. The only 19-year-old René Gabriëls from Belgium made an excellent impression at this tournament . He finished third in his first World Cup and lost the record game against Soussa 0: 500 in one shot.
