The free game world championship in 1929 was the second UIFAB world championship in the free game, a variant of billiards . The tournament took place from March 18-22 in Cairo , Egypt.

history

The world championship in Cairo met with great audience interest. Local hero Edmond Soussa was able to defend his title from last year. He remains undefeated, but had to surrender two world records to third-placed Raimundo Vives from Spain. Against the Dutchman Harry Verbeek, Vives finished the game in the ninth recording with the new world record average of 55.55 . He also achieved the new record high series of 450 in this match. Second place, with just one defeat against Soussa, went to Belgian Théo Moons .

For this world championship, Prince Abbas Ibrahim Halim, who was President of the Egyptian Billiards Federation, donated a challenge cup. The cup, a large bronze bowl on a marble plinth, was designed by the eventual winner Edmond Soussa and was named Challenge des Pharaohs .
